Verulamium, St Albans - Yew And Aspen
6th November 2008

Group Photo

Yew and Aspen visited the Verulamium Roman Museum in St Albans as part of their study of the Romans. Inside the museum the children had the opportunity to see lots of Roman artefacts found from excavation sites. There were lots of interactive games and the children had to work together to solve clues about Roman times. Both classes then had a Roman handling session where they got to look at objects used for cooking, building, eating and decorating. They had to work out if the object was real or a replica and what it would have been used for in Roman times. After lunch we visited a building that had a large mosaic which showed the under floor heating system used in Roman times. The children got the chance to sketch part of the mosaic and produced some lovely drawings.
