Oxford University Museums; Pitt Rivers & Science and Natural History
The children had a lovely day walking through historic Oxford University territory on the way to the Pitt Rivers ethnographical museum, where an excellent workshop on Indonesian shadow puppets provided the basis for ongoing puppet work in the school. The children showed real involvement whilst being also very well mannered. A grasp of some of the traditional folk stories from the Ramayana was gained with exquisite “Wayang Kulit” shadow puppets available to use and handle. This was followed by a very civilised lunch on the lawn, and then a tour of the natural history museum with dinosaurs, crystal light shows and preparatory sketching for later art work. Mr Slater
