Sea Life Centre - Larch & Rowan
04th June 2009

Athletics Team PhotoLarch and Rowan Rooms visited the Sea Life Centre in Birmingham on Thursday 4th June. After a good journey on the motorways and a short walk along the canal full of barges and a water taxi we arrived at the centre. Firstly Dave gave us a very interesting talk on sharks and stingrays: we really enjoyed watching them swim so gracefully in a large tank. Then we saw a short film in which we found out information on sea horses and in tanks nearby we saw several different types: one was called the big bellied sea horse and it did have a large belly! Jelly fish greeted us as we continued our tour together with four very friendly otters who invited us to watch them when they had fish for lunch. Steve gave us and the teachers, 3D glasses as we entered  a  special type of cinema where images of life beneath the sea showed us  how clever dolphins can be when they need to catch a meal also we felt our seats vibrate when a whale came swimming in.
The Ocean tunnel made our day as we walked inside it to admire some beautiful giant sea turtles having a stroll with tropical fish and sharks! We all got lost in the Mirror Maze and helped Ms Casiraghi and Miss Parisi to get out again. After meeting star fish, anemones and a crab called Michael in the rock pool we headed home. An absolutely fantastic day of learning and fun was had by all. Ms Casiraghi
