Cedar and Birch embarked on a daring and courageous trip to defend the mighty Warwick Castle from the dastardly enemy army. They scaled the walls and towers for the best vantage point climbing a total of 478 steps! They hid in the ramparts making the most of the crenulations to duck and cover as they fired their arrows down on the approaching nemesis army. Through the tour of the gatehouse we discovered murder holes and the mighty portcullis to ensure they would be victorious. Once we had successfully defended the castle they were able to enjoy the peacetime life of Warwick. They sat and watched the most incredible falconry display following the mighty Falconers Quest. Being positioned underneath the bird's flight path they were able to see up close the power and skill the birds had as they swooped and dived to catch their dinner. We also had tremendous fun exploring the maze which transported them through different periods in history. They were all successful explorers and made it to the end. On a real scorcher of a day an afternoon treat of an ice lolly was thoroughly welcome as they cooled down before being presented to Queen Elizabeth I. They performed the correct courtly etiquette and Queen Elizabeth declared herself that we could all keep our heads for being good and respectful courtiers.
On our journey home as the children settled down and started to doze off, we sat and felt complete contentment with a truly wonderful trip. The children were superb and a joy to be with. Everyone we encountered complemented the children on their beautiful behaviour and manners and we felt immense pride. They were true ambassadors of the school and we have thoroughly enjoyed our adventure together.
